Well I got it working, I had to take the big step of re-installing Windows XP on my new system. Catalyst 3.4 works fine. I really shouldn't have had to do this, and I would have liked to seen some acknowledgement from the Dev team over this issue...

It's a very hard bug to report to be honest, i have no data apart from the #error logs and that really doesn't say a lot. All i can do is include a full systems diagnostics document and the dxdiag with some screen shots! cheers for the help anyw...
